The 1st International GLBT Film Festival in Tel Aviv The 1st International GLBT Film Festival in Tel Aviv wishes to introduce new, high-quality films from all over the world with relevance to the lesbian, gay, bi and trans community. This year, the festival’s first, dozens of features, documentaries and short films from America, Europe and Israel are scheduled for screening in four days. The vast majority of the filmmakers have graciously waived the screening fees of their films, as a token of their support of such a pioneering event in Tel Aviv. Our goal is to promote and develop the cinematographic and cultural discourse among audiences as wide and diverse as possible. We believe that such endeavors are capable of building bridges between audiences, filmmakers and entertainment bodies, in Israel and abroad. The festival was created by Yair Hochner, director of the award-winning film “Good Boys”, and Gadi Leshman. It is hosted by Hakoma Me’al, the five new screening halls at the Third Ear complex in Tel Aviv. The festival has been endorsed by the Aguda (the official Israeli GLBT organization) and the Tel Aviv Municipality. It is supported by the Canadian and French embassies as well as a number of business sponsors. The festival’s opening gala will take place on Tuesday, June 13 2006 at the Third Ear complex, honored by the presence of artists and VIPs, including the German director and producer Jürgen Brüning, who is arriving especially for the festival along with five of his films. Israeli Cinema at the Festival The official programme of the festival will be published in print and on the Third-Ear website approximately three weeks prior to its opening.
